Today I was assaulted and temped from all sides by fatty and unhealthy food!
With a 2pm doctor's appointment, the plan was to leave work at 1:15, grab a grilled chicken sandwich from Wendy's, and eat it on the way. Sadly, I didn't get out until 1:30 and made it to the doctor just in time for my 2pm appointment . . . which didn't happen until 2:30pm and lasted way longer than it should have.
After FINALLY getting everything taken care of, I headed back to work but not before stopping at Speedway for gas. Considering I was STARVING before I was late getting out of work, I was ravenous after my appointment which made Speedway's sign for cookies so tempting. That was assault #1.
The next assault happened in downtown Powel where I was stopped by not 1 but 2 trains in front of the place that makes cupcakes and cake pops. Oooooohhhhh . . . assault #2 fended off successfully!
Next up - cheese and bacon! While turning into Wendy's I couldn't help but be assaulted by #3 - the triple cheese and bacon yumminess at Arby's. It looked so much better than a boring grilled chicken sandwich and baked potato I was about to order. It takes strength beyond imagination for me to defend against an assault like cheese and bacon!
After staying strong through 3 assaults and ordering my grilled chicken sandwich and baked potato, you would think the universe was done with torturing me. I say, "Nay, nay!" While barreling down the road, I reached into my bag for my sandwich and felt . . . a french fry. Instead of a baked potato, I was given fries! I held my breathe, pulled out my sandwich, cinched the bag up tight, and put it as far away from me as possible. As soon as I got back to work, I gave the fries to my coworkers.
It really is a great feeling to succeed and resist temptation.
