Lessons Learned

I had been looking forward to lunch at Flip Side all month, and I sat down at the table ravenously hungry.  That was my first mistake.

After researching the menu, I knew I was going to have a cheeseburger and fries; but I should have planned much better by no going in so hungry.  Instead, I threw caution to the wind and started out with a chocolate, peanut butter, and pretzel milkshake.  Granted, it was probably one of the best milkshakes I've ever had, but I can't even imagine the calorie count.

Next came the appetizers where we then split chili cheese fries, Parmesan fries, and tempura asparagus and mushrooms between the 5 of us.  The best part was the asparagus which was very, very lightly battered.  Sadly, I shoveled and inhaled without thinking making myself full before my burger ever arrived.  Mistake #2.

BUT that didn't stop me from devouring my burger topped with aged provolone, bacon, onions, and a fried egg.  I have to admit that the burger part was actually the best testing burger I've ever had.  You can definitely tell a difference in the all organic, grass fed beef they use . . . but I digress . . .

Everything tasted AMAZING, but it wasn't worth how I felt in the end.  Even while still sitting at the table, I felt my heart begin to race - no lie.  Upon leaving, I felt like I had a brick in my abdomen.  I felt sluggish.  I felt light headed.  I felt like pure, unadulterated, C-R-A-P.

What was the lessons I learned?  1) Nothing tastes that good.  2) Always have a plan.  3) Write before you bite.

Next time (yes, I'll definitely go back), I'll skip the shake and fries; and I'll enjoy the tempura and a bunless burger.

The key is to find a way to still enjoy food and life.  Don't deprive yourself.

Great lesson learned ,especially how your body was telling you " this was a bit much". Next time you go I'm sure you will remember this experience and be able to make good choices . This is a journey and you are learning more everyday . Remember how good it felt to try on new clothes and be able to get a smaller size . Nothing tastes as good as losing weight feels. We all have heard that before but it is sooooo true . Love you , proud of you and pray for you . Mom
